260262 2004-08-10 23:06:00 For what it is worth..... perhaps others are having this problem?...

The Dictionary Installer could not find OOorg on my PC - and I have tried running it numerous times from different locations on the HD.

So, I took the two small files (they are en_NZ.dic and en_NZ.aff) that came with the unzipped NZ Dictionary that I downloaded, and put them where the other (USA) dictionary files are located within the OOo program.

No luck - OOo did not recognize them. So I modified the file "DicOOo.sxw" using Notepad, to include the NZ dictionary. Now at least OOo recognizes them, i.e. "sees" them when I go to Tools/Language/etc./Edit/etc. ... but when running Spell Checker NZ words are not recognized and an error message pops up saying something about the Australian dictionary is not installed. And yes, I have edited the Tools/etc. section so that NZ English is specified in about 3 different locations within the Tools/Language/etc. section.

Now I'll probably try to unistall OOo, then install the older 1.1.0 version, try to run the Dictionary Installer, and if this works I will then update to version 1.1.2. What a pain.... :(

BTW: Running WinXP Home.

260263 2004-08-10 23:59:00 Thank you Steve. I had gone down the same track....I unzipped the files and copied them across to the dict/ooo folder but I didn't try to modify any files - my talents are very limited in that respect. I simply played with all the edit functions in OO to see if I could get it to recognise the NZ dictionary.
I will wait to see if you or anyone else can provide a (simple) solution.

260264 2004-08-13 00:57:00 Hello Raymundo,

It looks like no one is going to assist us with out OOorg problem. I haven't done anything else since I last fiddled with OOo.

As stated before, my OOo does see the NZ dictionary (in the box where one chooses which one - USA or whatever), but OOo cannot use it - when doing a spell check an error message comes up - strangely referring to the Australian dictionary.

If no one here on PF1 can help us, perhaps there is an email list / forum dedicated for OOorg....?

260265 2004-08-13 08:02:00 Did you follow the steps on this (ooodocs.sourceforge.net) page to register the new dictionary within OOo after installing it? Jen C (20)
260266 2004-08-14 01:31:00 Hello Jen,

Yes, I did follow the instructions. As stated above in a previous post:
"The Dictionary Installer could not find OOorg on my PC - and I have tried running it numerous times from different locations on the HD." In other words, the Dictionary Installer could not be run as it locked/stopped when it could not find my OOo.
