| 260673 | 2004-08-11 20:38:00 | I have installed Xandros on a laptop and: I have an adsl modem connected thro my usb port When I select: adsl modem (ppp over ethernet) After selecting users I get: No hardware detected try using manual configuration. Where to from here? |

| 260674 | 2004-08-12 02:20:00 | I would guess that the Xandros doesn't know about your USB ADSL modem. Unless it has a driver module to suit it, the OS can't use it. Just like Windows. :D To confirm this, open a terminal (root) and then plug the modem into the USB port. The command tail -20 /var/log/messages will show whether a known device has been plugged in. If that doesn't show anything, dmesg should. Then Google using the make/model and "Linux" to search on should find you anything known about it. It might even show you where to download the module from. |
