2004-08-11 07:36:00 | Hi people, just looking to see if anyone can tell me of a mp3 player i can download? There are just so many out there, ive had Real dukeBox 2 since day one witch i have been very happy with, but am looking for a change, I'm just sick of looking at the same old player, and Real 1 have stopped any further software updates on it . I just want one that has good sound quality, and which has a good size box for displaying album covers and lyrics. I have WMP but i think the sound quality is crap. I've tried a few and you can view the album covers, but not the lyrics, I don't mind if it's not a free one, Please someone! put an end to my hours of downloading on my super slow connection, Only to be disappointed. Thanks lots for any suggestions :)

2004-08-11 08:15:00 | This is not the norm, but with my surround sound set up, i find Power DVD with the surround sound codecs installed makes for great sound. I got it free with my dvd player but you can download a trial here ( www.gocyberlink.com ) or you can buy a copy from most PC shops if you like it. hope that helps

2004-08-11 08:16:00 | i cant stand winamp, too many fiddly little windows, and a completly un-user friendly interface, in short a 4/10 (only gets any marks cause its probably the second best player out there after wmp) | lagbort (5041) | |
2004-08-11 08:36:00 | Thanks exwesty, I've tried winamp, but would have to agree with lagbort, the buttons are to fiddly, small, i want BIG with a large lyrics and album cover screen. Thanks m@tt ill take a look :) | iron-zeus (3479) | |

2004-08-11 10:00:00 | Just use winamp with a big-button skin then. Winamp is way better than WMP, and has a better system for organising media library. 5.0.4 now out (I downloaded it yesterday) Bletch

2004-08-11 10:05:00 | what is your reasoning for winamp being better than wmp? (dont use the old, "its made by microsoft" excuse, they can make good stuff), I have always found winamp slower, and less user friendly, and you really cant beat the miniplayer feature of wmp | lagbort (5041) | |
2004-08-11 10:15:00 | I bought Musicmatch Jukebox when it first came out and have been a loyal supporter ever since, free upgrades for life, and great MP3 ripping etc...it does the lot. The only thing that I don't like is that the Music Store (where you can buy MP3 tracks) isn't available in NZ. http://www.musicmatch.com

2004-08-11 10:21:00 | Foobar2000 for me. 1) Extremely minimal performance loss when running it (0% cpu usage, 1.9mb RAM). 2) Opens instantly, not dogged down by bloat ie a video player and burning/ripping capabilities (the kitchen sink). 3) Actually sounds a lot better than Winamp, maybe due to the output codec is different than Winamps, not sure. Might be just my motherboard. 4) Stripped down user interface, only the essentials needed.
