Totally agree with that. I'm with e3 and always had a good deal and I think they are owned by Orcon.

260622 2004-08-11 23:54:00 Nice isn't it, as long as they (any ISP) don't compete with Telecom they can offer Unbundled Bitstream Services (UBS). UBS is a brand new oxymoron for you to ponder before it can even be used in the real world.

The Telecoms Commissioner and politicions are looking more moronic by the day with regard to their decision not to unbundle the local loop.

Scumbags.

Breaking news: Telecom nixes flat-rate for wholesale DSL

Static IP addresses for business customers only
Juha Saarinen, Auckland

ISPs gearing up for Telecom’s version of the Unbundled Bitstream Service (UBS) received a surprise this week when they were told that it would have a monthly data limit of 10GB per user. Furthermore, Telecom says providers cannot offer static IP addresses and nor can they use the word “Jetstream” in their marketing..........read more here (s0.tx.co.nz)

260626 2004-08-12 01:17:00 What suprises me is how many people still use Xtra as their isp.
Dont they realise there are better deals to be had out there??
Or is is just easy to have it on their ph bill???
Thumbs up to Orcon

That is one Good point & also if they had dialup, most people don’t really what to change there e-mail address

> Or is is just easy to have it on their ph bill???

That is another good point

And the 3rd & most imported point is this:

Total monthly charge for Telecom HomeLine and Calling customers*
*A Telecom HomeLine and Calling customer has their home phone and all their direct dial calling, including national, international and calls to mobile, with Telecom.

Have a look at this

For The Xtra JetStream Surf 3GB plan

& they are a Telecom HomeLine and Calling customers (which I guess most people in NZ are) to get Xtra JetStream Surf 3GB plan would cost them $49.95,

BUT if they are with another phone company or something different (I guess) the Total monthly Charge for other customers for the Xtra JetStream Surf 3GB plan is $59.95

So I think a lot of people either get confused or think if they choose another ISP that they will have to pay $59.95 instead of $49.95 for that plan

And the final point is that IMO Not many people who what to get JetStream know that other ISPS offer JetStream as well.

Exactly. The convenience factor.. There are still allot of people out there without CCs and this is the only way that they get internet access..

I don't see a problem with it. They currently do the same for your telephone, even if you're a current customer, as do power companies.

260630 2004-08-12 19:56:00 I was OK with the "fly-by" points system until Telecon came along and abused the system, now I don't shop with anyone that does fly-by points . Not that I used any .

Late last year I got hit with a $6 late payment, I think now, I might of paid it on time the last day but, the funds never got transferred over until the next day, anyway I rang Telecon and said I pay you about $500 a year I don't get any fly by point I will have my phone cut off thank you, and went with out it for eight months, I never missed, when I got the new job I had it reconnected .
