I also prefer the modular style of player, rather than sticking it all in one window like WMP. It is also far more customisable. Yes, it does crash a bit more than WMP (due to a bug in the WMA codec that came with version 5.0.0) but this has mostly been fixed with version 5.0.4. What makes you say that WMP is better? In my opinion, the only 'better' thing about it is 'more stable' and 'comes preinstalled with windows'. Winamp also has way better plugin support, and you can make your own vis plugins/presets. | 260464 | 2004-08-12 05:21:00 | maybe its just that i dont use plugins much, i prefer to hide my player away while doing other things, but i really like the all in one window style of wmp, it makes it easier, for when i do finally bring it up to change something i dont have to go hunting through 5+ windows to find what i want. plus i just cant get over how handy the miniplayer is | lagbort (5041) | ||

Winamp has limited miniplayer support (the tray buttons plugin) but WMP is better for this. I just don't use it much. One aspect winamp has over WMP though is the global hotkeys. You can set them to anything you like, and then hide winamp out of sight in the tray. Doesn't work too well as a mini-player though. Each to their own. Bletch |

| 260467 | 2004-08-12 10:02:00 | I can confirm what Baldy & SbOh says about MusicMatch. Free upgrades for life ! And it does everything ! The options are fantastic, ripping, recording, playing, converting, plus the "Music libary" displays all music files you have selected as title or artist. Amazingly I have used MM to record (as mp3) at the same time of streaming audio from other players like real & WMP. Even feeds from the VCR & Stereo. Recommended. |
