260673 2004-08-11 20:38:00 I have installed Xandros on a laptop and:
I have an adsl modem connected thro my usb port
When I select: adsl modem (ppp over ethernet)
After selecting users I get:

No hardware detected
try using manual configuration.

Where to from here?

260674 2004-08-12 02:20:00 I would guess that the Xandros doesn't know about your USB ADSL modem. Unless it has a driver module to suit it, the OS can't use it. Just like Windows. :D

To confirm this, open a terminal (root) and then plug the modem into the USB port. The command
tail -20 /var/log/messages will show whether a known device has been plugged in. If that doesn't show anything, dmesg should.

Then Google using the make/model and "Linux" to search on should find you anything known about it. It might even show you where to download the module from.
