1348862 2013-07-14 22:51:00 Quite justifiably. Anyone knowing and admiring the original who compares the two cars see glaring inconsistencies. The lights may well turn on several times in succession in the new car, and it is reported the battery even charges! The vibration levels are pathetic - no longer can you mix concrete by sitting a bucket of ingredients in the seat while the engine idles. The traditional weeding of the driveway feature has been omitted, in fact the oil doesn't even leak while the engine is running. Pathetic. Speaking of leaks, the multitude of justifiably famous rain leaks have been dropped from the new model - how are cigarette butts meant to be auto-extinguished on the floor now? It is rumoured that even the after-market strip of horse shoe magnets on the rear bumper that gave the car it's name and collected the bits that fell off if you were lucky (?) enough to get it moving is not being offered.
With all the omissions and errors, it is difficult to see how the Chinese can ever hope to sink to the position enjoyed by the British motor industry today.

1348863 2013-07-14 23:12:00 And they don't even need Lucas electrics to achieve all this??? Richard (739)
1348864 2013-07-15 00:25:00 Electric and Lucas are poles apart. ;) R2x1 (4628)

What British motor industry?? I thought it was all made in Europe these days as the British unions killed off their auto industry..

That's a bit unfair, the designers, quality controllers, the materials suppliers, and management all deserve credit too. One and all they contributed to the farcical pieces of junk foisted on the suckers. Lucas should rightly get most of the credit though, nobody does anything so badly or consistently as the King of Darkness..

1348867 2013-07-15 03:23:00 Well I don't know about you guys but I watch Top Gear for it's entertainment value rather than any serious consideration of their car reviews .
The things they drive on that show are not cars I'll ever own anyway . outside my price range considerably .

I think a bit of context is required when one of these guys is negative about a car . For example they referred to a Nissan sports car as heavy and sluggish (300 ZX I think) which is probably true if you get to test drive ferrari and porsche on a regular basis and have that as a reference point but I expect compared to my 11 year old V6 Camry it'd be a rocketship .

They regularly bash cars like the toyota corolla for being boring while at the same time making backhanded complements along the lines of if you make the mistake of buying one you're stuck with it because it will never die .

1348868 2013-07-15 03:30:00 I just read the whole review, hilarious! Also if it's even half true the car is complete rubbish - never mind how good or bad the old one was which he never mentions once. dugimodo (138)
