1349401 2013-07-19 10:38:00 Can you not just remove the supervised profile?
What about doing a full reset on the phone?

In my case a Android. I have read about anti theft software. There are apps out there that prevents the users factory resetting it thru the normal menu. Althou not sure about rooting or that special 3 button reset, probably prevent that too I imagine. The app could also be renamed or even hiddened. You could also remote locate it via GPS/network, shut it down, reset it, use the webcam to take their photo and other things i imagine ........ It can also prevent the user without authority shutting down that app.

Yea you can lock down an ios device like that as well so a company can stop its staff members from putting anything on the device that isn't approved.
And they can also stop you from doing a factory reset however you can still put the device into dfu mode and do a reset that way.

1349403 2013-07-22 03:14:00 It's sorted.. And, I was not alone!

After several failed restores using iTunes getting an message saying I didn't have authority to restore the phone (not the exact wording, but you get the idea) and several more failed attempts trying to do the same thing from DFU Mode with no warnings/messages/etc, just failures.

I decided to jailbreak it.. After which I was able to complete a DFU Mode restore and it started working as expected.

I heard from 1-Day, but they really were not any help.. Basically they let me know that they added the 'in the box' part to the advertising and offered a refund if I couldn't get it going. I feel sorry for anyone less technically savvy than myself who managed to get one of these 'deals'.

But I'm still more worried about the reason that they are being advertised as unlocked and functional while they're in fact sold in a state where they are locked to AT&T and with quite a restrictive supervisor profile enabled that appears to 'phone home' (I'd like to know what data was being sent out still) when connected to a wireless network.. I'm starting to think less and less that it was just the one I got that slipped through, as this morning I ran a friend-of-a-friend through the same process to unlock another iPhone purchased from 1-Day.

1349404 2013-07-23 00:30:00 I guess being "thoroughly tested" by "a technician" doesn't include seeing if it actually works in the country of sale. pablo d (15490)
1349405 2013-07-24 22:27:00 My mate at work had the same issue, he sent it back and was refunded.
I offered him my 3gs which is not being used any more but he left my work and had a phone given to him.
I really should look at selling it again.

1349407 2013-08-23 10:27:00 A family friend also recently got one last week from a daily deals website. It was locked to at&t, took me a few hours to sort it for her son :( Chilling_Silence (9)
