Lead Acid lose 50% of their capacity each time . Hmmmm . . . Lithium are definitely a bit fragile, but I must say that I have never experienced the lead-acid loss of capacity, but perhaps that applies only if you let it get down to virtually zero volts, or did you mean SLA? It would make sense for those, they definitely don't like deep discharge . I use several in instruments and they have a very long life with just occasional recharges, which reminds me, it is time to get them out again! A few years back I built the 'Silicon Chip" Multi-Purpose Fast Battery Charger for NiMH, NICAD, SLA and 6 & 12 volt Lead Acid and it is a real boon . It can pump a usable charge into an old NiCAD electric drill battery when the terminal voltage is so low you'd think it was stone dead, and it has a pulsed output that can restore SLA if they are not too far gone! On reflection, I don't think the average user of rechargeable battery packs, NiCAD, NiMH or Li would ever get down to 'complete discharge' because the computer would shut down well before that point . Deeper discharge is OK within limits for NiCAD and NiMH, in fact my charger has a 'Refresh' button that discharges down to the appropriate terminal voltage to prevent repetetive shallow charging . Thank god all the arguments re Nicads & zero volting, zapping, dendrites & memory effects are now long behind us  Back to original question. Did you mean a) how do you get max hours when running on batt power b) what do you do to extend the lifespan of the lipo batt |
