1348364 2013-07-23 03:09:00 Mine dropped off yesterday after the power company installed a new monitoring device and killed the power. When it came back the sync speed has gone up from 27 to 34 Mbps. The speed test results are still hovering in the mid 20's though so I'm guessing that's the cabinet bottlenecking it. In any case as long as this is reliable I don't feel disadvantaged by not having fibre available :)

Not so long ago I had a 2.5Mbps connection all the way from the exchange @ approx 3.5 km, then a cabinet went in and it jumped to 8Mbps, then I replaced my router and it jumped to 16Mbps, now with VDSL @ 34Mbps - that's about a 14x speed increase over 2-3 years. I'm liking this trend :)

On the downside anyone know how to unbrick an Asus N55U after a failed firmware update :( might start a thread on that after I try again. Was trying to make it work as part of my new VDSL setup and screwed it up.

Is the power light just blinking? If so, you can run the Firmware Recovery tool on the CD that came with it.

1348366 2013-07-23 05:12:00 The backstory has a bit of detail but I don't want to hijack the thread.

It's stuck in the setup wizard looking for a dsl connection and won't let me out, if I put it in recovery mode and try to flash the firmware it stops at 98%.
Don't answer here if I can't sort it out next attempt I'll start a new thread.

Likewise, I'm thrilled with VDSL2! :D

1348368 2013-07-23 07:06:00 What are the line stats from the (assuming you're using it) TG589 showing, including sync speed, errors etc?

Where do I find that in the WebUI?

Sure that's not just the DLM kicking in ?

It may be DLM, but since I was getting just a couple of Mb/s less than that on ADSL2+, I am less than overjoyed at the trend...

I had trouble spotting that too. Go to broadband, DSL connection, view more, click the details button hiding on the top right corner.

This is how the DLM has affected me, specifically for pings, but it'll give you a bit of an idea...

If you can't easily find the basic line stats, the router should be burned :p

I have a router here you can use :devil

Your speed degradation is more than likely DLM trying to counteract these fearsome error counts. FEC errors are tolerable, unless they're really high, but high CRC & HEC errors indicate your line is not particularly stable at that speed. I wouldn't be surprised if DLM drops you back a little further, though it might settle for that level, I'm not sure how strict Chorus have it.
