260900 2004-08-14 08:56:00 I got two trial copies of Sever 2003 when I was only 14 - what's so amazing about this other dude getting one? Otherwise, yes, it is most likely that he wants to hack some powerful server - as for a school server, I don't think many schools at all would currently be running Server 2003.

Regarding the Insert rescue disc, I presume that it would ignore any NTFS permissions, otherwise you might run into a spot of trouble when trying to write to files.

Across a network?

260902 2004-08-15 07:43:00 A school around where I live have moved to Server 2003, because of a deal between the Ministry of Education and Microsoft which apparently means they can get it very cheap (approx $200 or so). somebody (208)
260903 2004-08-15 12:06:00 Hey, Chilling - I had to use IE to log on here. For some reason Mozilla wouldn't let me log on to Press f1- but that is by the way.
What concerns me is, that you say it is easy to get into a computer after it has been password protected.
Does that mean that you could crack the BIOS password, too?

260904 2004-08-15 12:29:00 Problem fixed with logging on via Mozilla. :) eef2 (1904)
260905 2004-08-15 14:35:00 BIOS passwords usually take about 3-4 mins to reset, including time to take the case off.... ;-) Chilling_Silence (9)
260906 2004-08-15 20:31:00 I suppose you take the battery out for about 60 seconds, and then put it back. eef2 (1904)
260907 2004-08-15 22:46:00 No, it involves Googl'ing for the motherboard, finding a diagram which tells you where to change the jumper (In some cases) then short the battery terminals. Turn it on for 10 seconds and back off and bob's your uncle! Chilling_Silence (9)

I want to know the answer to this too.

Not because I want to hack anyone else's passwords, and not even my own.

You boot from dos disk, copy file where password hashes reside, run hashes through program , get password, if password less than ten characters takes about 20 seconds (once program has read file).

No, repeat No windows password or system is secure with out a "third party" security program.

If you have enough time and skill anything is possible.

The rules prevent further instruction, Rightly so.l

260909 2004-08-16 07:34:00 IIRC Two guys from Germany developed some software that would do it in under a minute...... Chilling_Silence (9)
