| 261152 | 2004-08-13 01:27:00 | Hi, a slightly fascetious question - why does F1 frequently forget to remember "log on automaticlly" I can get a normal log on and then all of a sudden get "log on guest" and I have to do it manually It can't be my settings surely, as it will remember a lot of the times,but why not all the time? And F1 members are being very helpfull in my quest for improvement - in my ancient computer, elephant in particular has offered me the ram I could use - free- and this worries me - I am not used to freebies- certainly not as an ex businessman- it used to be dog eat dog in my day :-) But boy , am I glad of his offer, :D and have to concede I am doing that free work with several of my contacts- but to me is real nice- thank you elephant, and godfather, Susan B etc :X effie c |

| 261154 | 2004-08-13 01:47:00 | Yes - the auto logon info is stored in a cookie. One called jive.authorization.autologin to be specific. I don't have cookies enabled by default, but PF1 is allowed to store them and this one is set to expire in september - about a month after i started using the feature. As the others have said, you need cookies enabled for PF1 to allow automatic logging in. Since you say that it will remember a lot of the times but not all the time I am guessing that you are either deleting your cookies manually or using a cleaner removes your cookies. |

I am ashamed of you - me? never :-) Well I doi use adaware and spybot but have suvvesss and failure in the same time frame re this login - just now - success again Oh well once again - it must be my age :-( Eddie |

There will be a reason for your problem but it is difficult for us to know what without seeing your computer. All we can do is suggest known solutions and hope that they work. :-) |

| 261159 | 2004-08-13 12:02:00 | The PF1 cookie may be deleted each time you clear your Temporary/Temporary Internet files, unless you have it set as *allowed* in your system. (Having said that - and made sure it's done - I still find myself becoming a Guest occasionally.) But it's no big deal to log on again - and these small surprises are are part of the big wide mysterious world of computing... Well, aren't they? |
