261396 2004-08-13 22:22:00 Hey there, yesterday i finally got my internet connection sharing working(because i upgraded to xp pro and it stopped working), then i changed the workgroup to the same as my other pc bu now it says that neither of them are there(the wrkgroup or the other pc :( ) when i try to et into the workgroup which only has 2 pc's in it(mine and my ics one) it says:

"Home is not accesible. You might not have permissions to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions

The network path was not found" but the other pc(ics one Windows 2000) can access all of the files fine. Whats wrong can someone please help me????

261397 2004-08-14 00:16:00 now the situation has changed, i changed what workgroup the xp pc is on and now you can see the other workgroup(home(with the other pc on it)) but you still can't get into it Codex (3761)
261398 2004-08-14 00:35:00 Make sure the workgroups are the same, have the user the same on both PC's and it helps to have the same password. Turn off all firewalls and make sure the ip address are correct 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 (or what ever you are using) and sub net is 255.255.255.0. In saying that are you manually doing the IP's or using the wizard? Berryb (654)
261399 2004-08-14 00:45:00 manual ip's, xp pc 192.168.0.2 subnet is 255.255.255.0 and default gateway is 192.168.0.1 the user isn't administrator(it's Alex) because you can't use custom passports and stuff like that if your the administrator but i have all the admin permissions and my account is set to admin, i'll change thw workgroups so they are the same(it was like that before but it still didnt work

2000 pc is 192.168.0.1 subnet is 255.255.255.0 and the user: is administrator

261400 2004-08-14 01:00:00 now i've changed both the workgroups to 'HOME' but it still comes up with the network path was not found. IT CAN'T FIND THE WORKGROUP THAT ITS USING ITS SELF Codex (3761)
261401 2004-08-14 03:49:00 You have to have a user on both PCs with the same name. Create a user called alex on the 2000 PC with admin rights if you want or can be a user. On an admin account in the 2000 PC share a folder. 2000 doesn't share any folders by default as XP does. Give alex rights to the folder (read, write, full whatever you want). Also in the network properties put 192.168.0.1 in for the dns server on both PC's. Berryb (654)
261402 2004-08-14 04:45:00 You dont haveta enter guests. Just tick use simple file sharing in XP. And enable simple file sharing on it. And share a folder. Spacemannz (808)
