| 261952 | 2004-08-15 06:13:00 | I am "unable to connect to server" after checking all is correct the only information I can glean from searching ventrilo site and google is to contact your Isp My Isp is xtra and sent the details including server adress and port# Their reply quote {Xtra is only available to provide help for certain computer applications, generally the ones found on the Xtra connection CD. Your query of 'connection to server' is not covered by Xtra's support service. I would suggest you talk to your nearest computer shop or someone who is authorised to fix computers} End quote Now can somebody please help me here as I said all my searching tells me to contact the Isp the Isp tells me it is not their problem. I do a tracert hops 3 and 4 seem to time out though the last entry is the server I am trying to reach I searched google and found a couple of servers which gave their details no trouble connecting at all. | 261953 | 2004-08-15 07:01:00 | It would have been useful to know what version of Windows, but: From the Ventrilo FAQ's: Q: I get the error "Unable to connect to server" after I press the connect button. A: This can be caused by several things. When you defined the server you wanted to connect to your either A) typed the IP address wrong or B) entered the wrong port number. The server might not be online. Some kind of firewall/router is blocking your connection to the server. Norton Internet Security and Zone Alarm don't seem to play nice with each other. If you have both installed, or one installed before installing the other, then please read this thread for possible solutions. In either event the problem is between you and the server. There is nothing we can do about it and you will have to research the problem in conjunction with the server administrator. |

| 261955 | 2004-08-15 09:59:00 | What version of Ventrillo are you running? The latest version requires servers to pay to operate, so most ISP run game servers use the older 2.1.1 version. Try connecting to the Orcon server on 219.88.243.146 port 3789 and see whether it connects. I just tried it and it was operating. |

| 261956 | 2004-08-15 11:10:00 | Jester your server gets me Server is running ver 2.1.0 to me that is ok I am getting through that far The server I am trying to reach is 203.17.15.208 port 3784 Ver 2.2.0 as per set up instructions for server. Could someone on xtra try it As I said before looks as if there is a block along the way somewhere. As I previously said I have tried all solutions as per ventrilo site yes I actually stopped zone alarm as well. I am nearly 70 so sorry if some people think I am a bit slow and yes I require it to play with teammates on PLANETSIDE Regards Gramps p/s I won't post p/w |
