262361 2004-08-16 22:44:00 Can anyone help? I have an Access 97 database to open for someone, but we use Access 2002 .

I tried to convert it but I get the message "You cannot view data directly . Open the (name of database) directly to get forms" .

I really don't have time to play around with it, but I hve tried a few things and nothing has worked!

can anyone help please?

262362 2004-08-16 23:53:00 When you convert do you use a diferent filename to save the database?

Have you tried Open Database insted, if you choose this you can still use the same database on the computer with Access 97

262364 2004-08-17 07:51:00 Hi, the error message you gave in your first post - is this the exact message you see or are you typing it as you remember it to be? If you were recalling the error can you post the exact error message from the screen? The reason I ask is because Google comes up with nothing on that error message. Secondly, have you tried creating a new database and importing all of the tables, forms, queries etc over from the old database to the new one? andrew93 (249)
262365 2004-08-17 23:41:00 ""You cannot view data directly . Open the xx database application to view data through forms" . (xx is initials of database) .

That was the the exact message . I couldnt find it on google either!!! :p

262366 2004-08-18 00:02:00 Hi, I dont know about that error but I have received errors with files that are using the Switchboard Manager. The Switchboard Manager is VBA code created by Microsoft which may not work in later versions of Access.

So code written by MS doesnt work on an application created by.... MS.

Why I mentioned this is that the Switchboard Manager is just a series of forms. Perhaps check that out.
