| 262715 | 2004-08-18 02:29:00 | I have installed SP2 on both my PC and Laptop. I also install Office 2003 about the same time. I find both machines are doing this same problem so it must be to be with either SP2, Office or software compatibilty. If I try to delete a file or right click the hour glass comes up and stays. If I do this while working in a folder I can "End Task" in Task Manager but not while on the desktop. This happens most times but I did manage to delete all temp files without going to the cmd prompt. Any know if this is a known problem before I start disabling programs. |

I could max out my CPU by merely right-clicking on a file without first selecting it. May or may not have any bearing on your problem but worth a shot. :) | Jen C (20) | ||

Cheeky blighter Murray :p I have you know this bug doesn't occur on 386SX's. See here (archives.neohapsis.com) and here (www.genesistems.com). I have no idea whether MS has done anything about it or whether my machine still does this as I hardly use XP nowadays. Just thought it just might be behind this problem. Certainly suspicious that two PC's now do this after SP2 and Office was installed though. Easiest option is to uninstall Office on one of the machines and see what happens. |

I have found that I can right click on a folder as normal but when I right click on a file the problem persists. It is all most like a permissions issue. I have redone some permissions with no success so are looking deeper at group policy. | Berryb (654) | ||
