| 263012 | 2004-08-18 11:37:00 | I have a HP Pavilion ze4300 laptop and I want to put it into hibernation, however when I try the screen comes up with Preparing to hibernate and then the system locks up. It will not respond to the mouse or anything all I can do is hold the power button for 7-10 seconds to turn the system off. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how I could correct the problem, I really need to use the hibernate facility. Cheers |

This way if you jab the button it will go into standby, hold it in and it will power down. Standby varies on different computers, on mine the PCU fan turns off, the power pack fan runs at half speed. Programs remain in memory, just save your data first. Wiggle the mouse or tap the space bar to revive. |

If it's the latter then check your mouse settings. In control panel open Mouse select the Hardware tab then click the Properties button. From there choose the Power Management tab and tick the allow this device to bring the computer out of standby (Hibernation in your case) If not then you may have to check your Power Management settings in the BIOS. cheers chiefnz |

| 263017 | 2004-08-19 09:23:00 | Another one to look at is go to Control Panel then Performance&Maintanence then Power Options then Hibernate check for tick on hibernate then Power Schemes set times for hibernation to start. kk | kirrie kiwi (279) | ||
