2004-08-18 05:34:00 | I bought a Panasonic KX-P7100 Laser printer from Dick Smith last October. Up until last month it worked OK. Very light duty. Then last month it started jamming up and stopping. Clearing the jam didn't help much. Sometimes it worked for a while , but more often than not it kept doing the same. I returned it to DSE for repair under warranty. After three weeks I got it back with the report that it had a faulty sensor. They had fixed it and the printer was working. When I got it home it printed exactly FIVE pages before it started doing the same thing again. Back to DSE for another week. Was told they couldn't find anything wrong but they had serviced it. (Whatever that means). Took it back to the shop where it was checked by a local staff member. He reported it worked OK for him so the problem must be with my paper. Too moist or too old or too something. So I threw out half a ream of paper and bought aq new pack. I printed five pages last night without a problem. This morning it was up to it's old tricks again. I phoned them and said I wanted a new printer or a refund but the chap I spoke to didn't seem too happy about that. He offered to send it back to Auckland. FOR WHAT???? They obviously know about as much as I do about printers. I notice that Panasonic printers have disappeared from their web page too. I wonder how many more dissatisfied customers they've got. So what do I do now? MY feelings suggest taking it back to their shop and throwing it at them. Jack

2004-08-18 06:06:00 | The trouble is the local manager has no authority. He has to sen it to Auckland. Jack

2004-08-18 06:19:00 | They've already had a decent crack at it Jack and you've been without your printer, tell the manager to get the authority, from elsewhere if necessary, to replace or refund. It should be his/their problem now. Cheers Murray P

2004-08-18 18:59:00 | I agree Murry. It should be their problem. But they are not particularly interested. What I fail to understand is why it will run off 20/30 pages for them, but when I bring it home it won't work. Last night I got my wife to have a look at it for me. (embarassing). She runs a nain frame network with several printers. And she's the chief fixer of problems. Anyway after trying for half an hour she decided "There's something wrong with it" Oh well see what today brings. Jack

Similar problems with a Canon printer - always worked for them - every time I had it here, same problems. My 10 month old printer was replaced with a newer version, with a 12 month guarantee. In my opinion, good service in some aspects, but a hassle with having to return it 3 times. Bye |

2004-08-19 00:16:00 | > Threaten Fair Go???? Total waste of time, not only not interesting enough for FG, but their time frame is months, not days. Make an appointment with the the manager of DSE, tell him what it is about and insist on meeting him. Don't do it in the shop, ask to go somewhere private (like his office) and work it through with him on the spot. He can call HO if he needs to when you are there, but Rotorua is a big shop and I am quite sure he has the authority to act. Three times is nonsense, after one abortive repair you have the right to expect a replacement or a refund. Politeness, persistence, patience. The three P's of consumer complaints. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2004-08-19 00:28:00 | BillyT .I don't agree with you. Rotorua is not a big shop. It's small and Pokey. And you can never park within half a mile of the place and it's always full of customers. And I hate the place. Anyway I have just phoned head office and spoken to their manager. He's investigating and will get back to me very soon. Maybe!!!! Jack
