| 262634 | 2004-08-17 13:30:00 | Recently I have found that many of the boxes on my favourites sites where I have to log in with a username now have a yellow background. e.g. hotmail and my favourite travel forum (but not here on PressF1). I use Win98SE and IE5.5. The only thing I have done recently is download ZoneAlarm and use IE's repair feature in add/remove programmes. I have just done defrag and scandisk and run housecall, spybot, adaware. I have been getting lots of illegal op messages re iexplore lately (then the window closes down) and when i first go to a new url by typing it in, or from history or favourites, I often get the 'cannot access' page yet if I click on it again it then does come up. Hoping someone else can give me an idea on why i suddenly have yellow boxes now. | Carol T (1211) | ||

It could be that Windows is using corrupted video drivers, so it may be an idea to go into your hardware properties and reinstall the driver for your video card. It's been a while since I used 98, but try: Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, select Device Manager, click on the + next to Display Adaptors, right-click on the name of your video card which should be below Display Adaptors, click Properties, then look around and you should find an option to update the driver. From the symptoms you describe it's very hard to guess what the real issue is, but trying the above will do no harm. |
