263376 2004-08-19 12:01:00 Now I know some of you will be sick of Telecom bashing but . . . whatever happened to Telecon . co . nz???

Found this from the Herald . . .

Whatever happened to www . TeleCon . co . nz, the protagonist website launched last year to "educate and inform the New Zealand public about the substandard business practices of Telecom New Zealand Ltd"?

Funny you should ask . It disappeared a couple of months ago after hosting some interesting discussion forums on the state of broadband in this country .

A search of Domainz records reveals that since last month the now non-functioning site has been registered to Telecom's own ISP, Xtra .

A Telecom spokesman told the Business Herald last September that the company did not intend to take a heavy-handed approach to the site, but would monitor it "and if they crossed the line we would take whatever action was warranted" .

263380 2004-08-19 15:44:00 Can we all get away from Telecon?

It seems we all have our own idea about this company for better or worse.

The theme of "pressF1" is getting computer related problems and ideas worked out,

263381 2004-08-19 16:01:00 Sorry I thought this was a posting about that other "dictator" company, because it has no competition .

All the same my first posting to the thread is still valid .

And I have no intentions to mention or reply to any thread on this web site that uses the word "Telecom" from now on .

Have a great Friday everyone and I hope you have a better weekend, and drive safely .

263382 2004-08-19 22:30:00 Weird that people think they have the right to inform others what they can discuss. metla (154)

263385 2004-08-19 23:47:00 Can do: discuss what you want as long as it stays a dicussion, not a flame war.

Can't do: start abusing each other over a topic.

Come on guys, stick to the plan. I've no interest in killing a discussion on Telecom or anything else. No one is forced to read a thread so if you don't want a discussion on Telecom, don't read the thread. On the other hand it has to stay a discussion, not a flame war, so let's not start abusing each other over it. Consider this a pre-emptive attempt to keep a thread open.
