| 263285 | 2004-08-19 08:58:00 | Win 98SE with OEM Sound Blaster Live! Value When I try to open either 'Speaker' or 'Mixer' controls the 'Sound Mixer window opens but during loading of the Super-Environment Presets it crashes with invalid page fault in MFC42.dll. Closing this error msg box causes anothe rto open with invalid page fault in KERNEL32.dll. The microsoft site describes this under Knowledge Base Article 299333 and say the solution is search for all occuancies of MFC42.dll and rename all those NOT in C:\windows\System to 'MFC42.old' This I have done but it has not curred the problem. I can still get sound out of my speakers but can not control the sound stage or add environmental settings. the version of MFC42.dll in my Sytem folder is 6.0.300 (995,383 bytes). Anyone able to help? TiA. |

| 263286 | 2004-08-19 10:41:00 | Have a look thru these pages here (www.ask.asia.creative.com) On occasion, you may receive an invalid page fault (IPF) error message. This error message occurs when a program tries to access the KERNEL32.DLL protected memory space. Occasionally, the error message is caused by one particular program, and other times the error message is provoked by multiple files and programs. If the problem results from running one program, the program needs to be replaced. If the problem occurs when you access multiple files and programs, the damage is likely caused by damaged hardware. This pages mentions new drivers here (aumha.org) |

| 263287 | 2004-08-23 09:04:00 | johnboy, thx for your comments - I'd already checked out the 2 sites you refer to but they didn't help I have uninstalled the complete SB Live! package and re-installed it from the OEM disk as the problem appeared after d/loading an updated driver so went back to the original build from the OEM disk but still end up with the same failure mode. The one thing I haven't done is checked and cleaned out the registry after the uninstall. Any additional advice, anyone? TiA |
