How do you find them?

Can you get to sites ok? Or do you need to refresh the page a few times to get to the site you what?

263733 2004-08-21 00:00:00 I use their DNS servers,

They are:

Primary: 202.27.184.3
Secondary: 202.27.184.5

And I can get around fine.

I don't, but I used to.

They are crap.

That would not be affected by DNS servers. A DNS resolves a domain name to an IP address, nothing more. If you are having issues with content it is probably their cache that is more likely to be the issue.

Try using Ctrl+Refresh, or Ctrl+Shift+Refresh to force reloads.

He might mean problems with not being able to type the URL in and getting to a page - which could be the fault of the DNS server.

Just like you can use their DNS, you can use the SMTP server too....

It's unlikely that would be fixed by a couple of hits of the refresh button though.

You should only be able to use the SMTP server if you are connected to that network, or they support SMTP auth. You can use any companies DNS servers from any connection, not true with SMTP.

263741 2004-08-21 14:31:00 I often found I had to refresh to get pages to work, but I started using proxy.xtra.co.nz (port 8080) and all of a sudden the errors disappered, and my web browsing speed was doubled (download speed the same, 32KB/sec).

If you are having problems, try using the XTRA proxy. An added benefit is that when a site does have problems, you know it's not you because you get a message explaining the problem (ie. Couldn't resolve the IP address because the nameserver was unreachable, or couldn't resolve the IP address because the host didn't exist, or couldn't connect to the host). Much more helpful than 'Cannot find server'.
