| 264875 | 2004-08-24 03:35:00 | Does anyone know of a good internet monitoring software tool (free or a demo) to monitor where your internet usage is going - I need to avoid being stung by a nasty jetstream bill!!! This must be a reputable program, with no spyware, ads or other cr*p!!! :) Thanks for yr time and help! I've searched Google and come up with these: www.gauravcreations.com www.networkingfiles.com www.snapfiles.com tucows.mundofree.com If anyone has used any of these and can give advice/reviews, keep us posted! |

None of them were any good because you can't set the date range to monitor... ie from beginning to end of your billing period and their graph options are a bit over the top. The one I used before was Down2Home. Simple and reliable, has icon in the tray and you can hover cursor over icon to get current sessions figures, also has a bar graph for days usage or numerical graph. if you don't want all sorts of flash graphs it should do you. Can download it from Majorgeeks near the bottom of the 'monitors' page (think it's about 1mb from memory) |

The only disadvantage is it measures broadcast traffic between the modem and PC which means it shows a higher usage than actually occurs. |
