264403 2004-08-23 02:26:00 Upto 12/8 I had no problems opening attachments to my emails by double clicking them in the attachment box. Now, for reasons unknown, attachments with extentions xls, pdf, mid wont open (there maybe others still to be found), but those with jpg & doc extentions are still OK. The ones that wont open can still be accessed, but must be saved to a folder on the HD first which is a pain.
Any help appreciated. Thanks. RSB.

264404 2004-08-23 04:18:00 Have you looked in edit/preferences , Is it your anti virus or firewall blocking these attachments ?? when did you last update them?
Here is a good faq for netscape
The Netscape Unofficial FAQ

Thanks for the suggestions. Looked in Edit/preferences earlier on, but couldn't find anything. Also looked in "about:config" which also showed the appropriate plugin scans for Acrobat amd WMP. The only firewall I have is the one which comes with XP Home Edition, which apart from ensuring its on, I have never touched. A look tonight shows no odd boxes accidentally enabled or otherwise. Similarly, my NAV shows no changes in the normal configuration, at least at the level I know how to access. So still a bit stumped, and it looks like either seeing what the Netscape Unofficial FAQ can do for me or uninstalling/re-installing Netscape 7.1 in the hope it will fix the problem in the process.

Any further ideas always appreciated. Regards RSB

Just a thought ... have you got Windows Updates turned on to automatically download and install? If so, could XP SP2 have anything to do with it? When did you start noticing the problem? It is just a thought.
