| 264385 | 2004-08-23 11:33:00 | This example is for paradise: ftp> open ftp.homepages.paradise.net.nz You could also put the address after ftp.exe in the run box. You are then prompted for your account then your pin after you are in, the help file will help you. IMHO unless you need to use this, eg updating website via cellphone or email, I would sugest one of the ftp clients with a graphical user interface. please note that was my opinion and I dont care if you like it or not |

I was talking about the FTP program which is included in to windows, This one > Start -- > Run -- > ftp.exe , NOT FTP in general. |

| 264388 | 2004-08-23 23:56:00 | Its a good idea to get familiar with using it Stu, many times Ive found myself using it, and other linux alternatives. It just helps to know you type "Send" to send a file and "Get" to get a file.... Personally, you cant get past: ftp://username:password@domainname.com If you have a GUI handy :-) Konqueror is especially good at this :-) Chill. |

Unlike me a lot of them might be too shy to put their hands up and say so . I thought that this was a forum where people helped each other . Thet sort of comment is unhelpful and rude, get over yourself . If anyone feels like giving some helpful advice it would be gratefully received . Rob |

| 264392 | 2004-08-24 05:37:00 | And knowing how to do FTP doesnt make you a good website developer! Not knowing how to do it doesnt make you a bad one . Good on ya guys for admitting you arent 100% up with it (im another one who know a little but am not an expert) - people in computers often seem really afraid of beng honest about what they dont know, but thats how we learn . My advice, experiment with some ftp and atleast learn a little, its isnt too hard to understand . Cute ftp is very good, havent used many others . |

| 264394 | 2004-08-24 08:34:00 | I've used Brandyware FreeFtp for several years, a gui ftp program where you can just drag and drop files either uploading or downloading. members.aol.com The price is very good :) |
