| 265340 | 2004-08-25 20:45:00 | Hi A balloon appeared on my taskbar stating "updates are ready for your computer. Click here to start downloading." I want to put SP2 on by disk from PC World. Will this Icon in my taskbar remain there if I turn computer off and then on again? Don't want to accidentally hit it and start it downloading. Marg. |

| 265341 | 2004-08-25 20:56:00 | Turn automatic updates OFF. My Computer/right mouse button/properties/Automatic updates. YES. It will appear again once you reboot. If this option is enabled. |

| 265342 | 2004-08-25 21:19:00 | Thanks Spacemannz Wasn't ready for that little surprise this morning. Want to use recovery disk to take computer back to way it was when I first started before installing XP2, but on the other hand, if I have problems with some of my older programs will stay with XP1. | 265343 | 2004-08-25 21:25:00 | System restore might work . Well if its stopped updating now, and most of SP2 didnt install, (which I doubt it, isnt it 70 or 92mb) the automatic updates?? I spose it would have done it if you were on broadbank or hispeed. I wouldnt worry about it. It has to install fully, before it does any changes. And if it doesnt say XP Service Pack 2 in add / remove programs it hasnt done any major changes yet. |

| 265344 | 2004-08-25 22:48:00 | Hi Spacemannz Turned off automatic updates in Controls and now the icon re: updates has gone. Checked add/remove programs and there is no mention of XP Service Pack 2. Glad you were going thru the posts when I made my query. thanks. Marg. |
