265148 2004-08-25 05:43:00 I am working on a friends Computer and they have got Search Portal installed on it and I can't get rid of it. It Is a completely dominant program, takes over Home Page and your search Bar. Running XP Home, IE 6.? etc. Can anyone help me.

265149 2004-08-25 06:50:00 Try the following in order..
1/ Turn off your restore.
2/ Download and use Ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/)
3/ Download update and use Spybot (www.majorgeeks.com)
4/ Download and use CWShredder (www.spywareinfo.com)
5/ Download Hijackthis (www.spywareinfo.com) and see if there are mentions of that searchbar listed. You can tick the boxes and run the fix to remove them.
7/ Start-run and enter in MSCONFIG. Look at your startup listing for anything that is suspicious. If in doubt, just post back here. There are plenty of helpers willing to tell you. :)

I have run Updated Versions of Spybot & Adaware.
Will try your other suggestions.
