Browser Defender
Advanced System Protector
Regclean Pro
MyPCBackup
Delta Chrome Toolbar
Optimizer Pro
Alot
My Search Dial

I guess having no AV will help this cause!

1350629 2013-08-04 23:04:00 Uninstall those they look like spyware. Only one that may not be is Mypcbackup. Then use something like malwarebytes to remove the rest of them / their entries. Mysearch maybe a browser hijacker

If ccleaner is installed, delete their entries in startup

1350630 2013-08-04 23:15:00 No AV is a big risk, it'll be faster until the malware gets in and kills it and that doesn't take long in many cases.
If you want free install Avast (paying attention to what you click or get more bloatware) or MSE, for paid try NOD32.

Do a full Virus scan, do a full malware scan as speedy mentions with MBAM and maybe one other free scanner (not sure which, used to reccomend spybot but recent reviews have not been favourable maybe super-anti spyware?). Run Ccleaner and delete whatever it finds, go to control panel add/remove programs and uninstall any software you don't want or don't need anymore, especially any toolbars.

That should all take a while, see how it goes then report back if it's still running slow :)

1350631 2013-08-04 23:54:00 Looks like their teen son had a download spree with Bearshare, etc. Oh dear. Uninstalled most of it. Network seems to be broken too.

Speedy, that Mypcbackup is pretty dodgy, some scary reviews on Cnet. Edit, it had scary reviews- they seem to have been removed apart from one positive review.

1350632 2013-08-05 03:15:00 Avoid Cnet if you've been downloading their installer from the site. They repackage legit installs, with their own crap installer, which installs malware. If you want a program, get it from the authors site, NOT CNET

That Advanced System Protector I think is a fake AV program. It'll tell you, you're infected when you're not. Uninstall mypcbackup too then

I would disable system restore just to make sure nothings in the system restore folder/s

Thats what you get for using something like bearshare, and you have no idea what you're getting, or what you're installing

If the network is broken, what's not working?

1350633 2013-08-05 03:35:00 . . . . . and maybe one other free scanner

Ive been using Hitman Pro as a 2nd Malware scanner: so far its been very very good .
You get the option of a 1 time scan : ie no install . The "1 time" scan is free , not sure how many time its usable on the same PC .

Download everything from Major Geeks .
. majorgeeks . com/mg/sortname/anti_spyware . html" target="_blank">www . majorgeeks . com

Avast does have issues (known issues) , installing other programs (Chrome or Chrome addons), sometimes if you want it or not .

But that PC, it may be easier (for you) to just wipe & reload . Save yourself alot of time & frustration . You may never get it back to full speed if it had
buckets of crap loaded up on it .

This is pretty hosed, cleaned a lot of crap off with HitmanPro & MBAM (including porn cookies under the son's login) but it's behaving badly. So Win reload on the cards.

Re- the network, cable unplugged message. There's a PCI card I didn't notice yesterday, and that one is all good. Onboard one must be toast.

Speedy Gonzales is right. Remove everything. Then run SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) (nostalgia - XP Days) and install a proper antivirus like Kaspersky Antivirus or Norton Antivirus. If you are low on budget you can install the ones from Microsoft (Microsoft Security Essentials). After that, you can install Ccleaner and clean the junk files that is left. Of course the best way to remove everything would be reformatting your drive and avoiding such apps.

PS:
You don't really need additional toolbars on your browsers. :)
Also if Speedy Gonzales is still doing the Hijack This! analysis thing, you can ask him.

Its been a while PressF1.

1350636 2013-08-26 15:32:00 I just removed those same items from a friends pc. They were running AVIRA as their virus scanner.

add/remove in control panel removed most of them and malwarebytes finished things off finding over 300 left over items.

1350637 2013-08-26 17:45:00 Also pay to check the boot sector with Hitman Pro kickstart or Kasperskys Rescue Disk 10

Would have been better to uninstall stuff with Revo Uninstaller to get the rest of the crap with programs

I use to run Avira but now run Nod32 as well
