2013-08-04 02:47:00 | My 8 year old computer has to be replaced but I can't buy anything half decent and continue to pay for MySky (Basic package plus Sky Sports) as well for the next year or so. I'd feel more confident about only having Freeview if we got UHF reception here and I could watch Sommet Sports. Can't use the inbuilt Freeview either so I'd have to buy a set top box. I've still got my old Sony dvd recorder so hopefully I could record Freeview programs. I'd really miss motorsports, Vibe and UKTV. Anyone given up Sky, what do you miss if anything.? | bellbird (6169) | |
2013-08-04 02:49:00 | What about just giving up the sports package? That way you could use Sky basics plus view the freeview channels. | Jen (38) | |
2013-08-04 02:53:00 | If you get Igloo you can buy the channel pack for $24.99 extra a mth, which includes UKTV and Vibe. I think Sommetsports also includes MotoGP | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2013-08-04 03:27:00 | From what I understand Igloo is only UHF Speedy (as are Sommetsports unfortunately). We don't have UHF reception here, too close to the hills or something. I thought of just giving up sports and mysky Jen but giving it all up will give me $88 a month extra towards paying off a computer. It's all about priorities and finance I guess. | bellbird (6169) | |
2013-08-04 03:30:00 | satellite freeview isn't HDTV. .. or sky hd satellite then. if that is ok then u can use your sky dish with a setup freeview box. plug and play. yes we have igloo all the free channels are unf, the paid channels are thru the network cable or internet. so no go if no unfortunately area. Somerset tv via sat freeview? ?

2013-08-04 05:51:00 | Had it for the last year to cater for SWMBO's netball viewing, but it goes next Thursday. Lot of money to pay for crap. I was only paying $45/month for basic & sport which I had cause I put the screws on them but it was going up to $72 as from this month - told the pleasant young lady from Sky tha even at $45 it wasnt worth it. | 1350585 | 2013-08-04 10:08:00 | What part of Chch? We had UHF in Beckenham quite close under the hill and now in Halswell we have it too | gary67 (56) | |
2013-08-04 11:45:00 | I'd feel more confident about only having Freeview if we got UHF reception here and I could watch Sommet Sports. Why do you think that you won't or can't get UHF terrestrial FreeView? Digital UHF is much less fussy about its signals than analog, my freeview analog was patchy at best, but all channels are perfect on digital. A good antenna is not expensive either, so it could be a win-win for you. Cheers Billy 8-{)

I don't really watch a lot on Sky, so I wouldn't really care without it. My son watches Disney/Kidzone etc a lot, though, so he'd miss that. Cheap entertainment imo, wouldn't give it up. | inphinity (7274) | ||
