We gave up on them ages ago, not just the cost but they'd break all the time, got sick of repairing it.

I replaced the standard stainless steel chain on my bracelet with a nice 9ct gold chain. Given that I have to wear it for life then I thought it may as well look pretty and the fancy versions offered by MedicAlert are far more expensive than what my do-it-yourself version cost. Hasn't broken yet but then it doesn't knocked around like it probably would on a bloke.

Not sure I would want one of those Mediband ones as they look too similar to all the bands everyone wears these days to support their "cause" whereas medical people would identify a MedicAlert emblem immediately. Now that I have the bracelet and the inscription I don't have to subscribe annually because the essential information (no MRI scan) is on the bracelet. I guess for dugimodo's purpose they would be fine, however.

Son has a band thing . . . . it just has Warfarin writeen several times around it . Pretty obvious and noticable .

Husband has a velcro material one, with a metal tage on it, engraved with his NHI and Diabetes On Insulin . . . . . stands out and the point is ambulance people look at arms for those sort of things . I can tell you they do, and have looked at it . He's had loads of ambulances since he got it .

But each to their own . . . yeah 9 carat would last 5 minutes on him, he used to break the SS one all the time .
