| 1368687 | 2014-02-27 08:58:00 | Well in that case a smart person would have uninstalled Firefox completely instead of updating. Updating to an out of date version will surely result in the same situation of being asked to update. Just as well I don't claim smarts on computers :blush:, for me a computer is just another technological tool that I use to earn money but I figured I might need FF at some stage which is why I kept it. However, it was very annoying getting the update reminders all the time, and the change has made a difference to several sites, particularly Google, so they must have been relying on FF for something. Things are settling down now anyway, so I'm probably over the worst. Cheers Billy 8-{) :thumbs: P.S. I don't see/get the squares that WT posted, must need a later version! |

I do see a 3 x 3 matrix of little black squares, labelled Apps, but it does nothing. This is probably because I don't run any Apps in Google, at least I assume that is what it means. That's why I don't upgrade browsers until I absolutely have to, and even then I end up with 'features' I don't need or want, and problems I want/need even less. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Cheers Billy 8-{) I still get the Apps menu even when signed out - it basically shows the services that exist. Note that Google generally supports the latest version of a browser and two versions behind it, so your copy of Firefox 12 is nowhere near being supported. That's why I turn automatic updates on and let it update, less problems that way ;) |

Doesn't matter what Browser I use, can be FF, IE, or Iron ( chrome clone) if the page is google the box opens as shown. |

No, they are the exact same services\websites that already existed, but to cater to the phablet market they are now calling them Apps. If clicking that button doesn't open a menu where you can access maps etc, then there is probably something wrong with your browser configuration, or it's being blocked by something like an ad blocker or such. |

| 1368693 | 2014-02-28 09:20:00 | Well, my son's computer has the same browser version, because I updated his several moons ago from the same disk, and yes, his pops up the 'apps'. It was a moderately traumatic process to put everything back the way he wanted it after loading it, which is why I decided to stick with my older version until I absolutely had to change, but the nagging got to me first. So anyway, in theory we have the same version of FF but his shows the Apps and mine doesn't. I'll try a reboot but if that doesn't fix it I can live without them, and I'll get around to another update when the need is more pressing. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 1368694 | 2014-02-28 09:24:00 | If that doesn't work just type maps.google.com in your address bar and use it that way | Agent_24 (57) | ||
| 1368695 | 2014-02-28 21:13:00 | Adding to what Agent posted :) You can always do what I do and have set up for others, go to google search for google maps, select your general location you want. Then once on the page, bookmark it. The bookmark can be either in bookmarks, or on the bookmark toolbar ( All browsers have that) OR do what I do, make a shortcut to the desktop for it, that way all you do is double click it and bingo - google maps. Mines on the DocBar: 5578 NOTE: They have just changed to the new Version of Google maps as well, its changed since yesterday, I use them almost daily to look up customers locations if I dont know the area. |
