| 1350638 | 2013-08-26 22:30:00 | Speedy Gonzales is right... install a proper antivirus like Kaspersky Antivirus or Norton Antivirus. PS: You don't really need additional toolbars on your browsers. :) Kaspersky slowed my browser down I don't think much of it, and Norton has never had supporters around this forum despite reasonably favourable reviews these days. I'd stick with the NOD32, AVAST, MSE recommendations already made. Also this thread is a bit old, probably a bit of a necro post. |

| 1350639 | 2013-08-27 02:36:00 | Ended up formatting this turd. It was pretty shot even after scanning/cleaning. Had another today that was running slow. Yeah, having AVG 2013, CrapAfee AND MSE installed just might cause a massive slowdown  Why do people do this  |

| 1350640 | 2013-08-27 03:24:00 | Fairly obvious I think, scared of virus's and not understanding that multiple ant-viruses are not a good Idea. Also people don't trust free scanners, there's a perception that nothing free can be any good. In truth even though MSE has fared not so great in recent tests it's still good enough for most users, I'ved used it almost exclusively for several years and had no problems. Switching to kaspersky howver which is supposedly better did cause me problems. |

I just cannot believe that Speedy would ever recommend either Kaspersky or Nortons for anything! MSSE yes, but definately not the afore mentioned! |

You're right Speedy DIDN'T suggest it, it was listed in Post #8 by the poster. Anyone who works with computers, and even many that dont know very well that Kaspersky or Nortons are total rubbish, and often cause problems. AVG is another one :yuck: Talk about rubbish, its amazing how much it misses, and how much it brings down the performance of most PC's its installed on. |

| 1350643 | 2013-08-30 10:57:00 | The only good thing Kaspersky makes is tdsskiller. At least it works. And most of Symantec's removal tools do work. Thats about it. Kaspersky I would say is worse than Norton/Symantec. Its known for crashes, like Mcafee, and Bitdefender | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 1350644 | 2013-09-02 05:20:00 | Kaspersky OEM AV is an excellent product, 2nd to none for an AV scanner, Ive been using it almost daily for the last 3+ years to clean customers PC's: better results than the 'other' loved AV . It is resource hungry & may not be a good choice on some PC's. To say its rubbish is way off line. I only stopped using it as the local support dissapeared completely & could no longer get the OEM package from our suppliers. ** Kav AV is not the same as Kasperky internet security, all singing all dancing package ** |

| 1350645 | 2013-09-02 05:36:00 | It is resource hungry & may not be a good choice on some PC's. So a prerequisite is you have to have a reasonable powerful PC to run Kasperky unless you want a performance hit. FAIL !!!! |

| 1350646 | 2013-09-02 06:01:00 | So a prerequisite is you have to have a reasonable powerful PC to run Kasperky unless you want a performance hit. FAIL !!!! It would run just fine on a modern PC. In fact , was just Fine on our XP E7500(core2 duo) PC. I wouldnt put it on many of the older PC's out there. The big fail is the no of our clients PC's with NOD still getting infections . Or fail as in much loved AV programs that cant detect infections that FREEWARE programs can detect & remove. No excuse for a pay AV program being less effective than freeware. Thats a FAIL I will admit that NOD seems to be getting better, or its just our customers are getting less stupid with what they do |

Even had one here last week, reasonable modern PC, AVG had all but crippled it. When I first got hold of it I thought someone had put older hardware in a new case, but when looking at the spec's  |
