| 1350221 | 2013-07-31 05:47:00 | I favour margarine because I know what is not in it, it does not need a heater in the fridge, and it tastes better. | R2x1 (4628) | ||
| 1350222 | 2013-07-31 05:57:00 | Idiots are still going to eat crap no matter if it's a rip-off or not . Each Friday morning I have a coffee at a takeaways / eatery at Homai . I get to see people getting 3 - 4 pies and chips, or whole fried chicken and chips . Keep in mind I guess lunch has still to come on top of that . It's not a question of cheapo food either, the chicken and chips are around $15 . 00, and a massive full breakfast around $17 . 50 . :horrified Some of these people take up two seats by themselves . . . :groan: Grandparents lived on salt, dripping on toast, roasts in dripping, butter and so on . Neither died of heart disease . Coming back from Waiheke earlier I was reading of some old bird who had just hit the 100 . Her favourite treat was lard on bread . . . Neither were young either when they died . Fortunately they lived through puberty, I guess? Ancient Egyptians died of heart disease, artery disease and so on too . No-one was ever aware what it was anyway, they just carked it :p I just eat food, in variety - meat, veges, fruit, FAT, cheese, etc . . . . Eating less if you get fat works . . . |

Till that happens, people are going to eat what they can afford, not what some researcher says we should eat. Speaking of fats, its not just saturated fats that are the problem its also trans fat and many others. |

There were no fat children, and not that many fat adults either. We ran everywhere, played hard, and lived through smog and fog laden winters, coal fires, industrial fog so thick you had to feel your way along hedges and fences to find your front gate :) Our staple diet was potatoes, dripping on bread with added salt, suet puddings, thick pastry made with lard. Hardly any fresh fruit, children were allowed an occasional orange so I believe, but I never saw one. But we did have concentrated orange juice, and American dried egg, and an occasional food parcel. |

And chicken and chips for breakfast, so what's lunch - an entire bison? Actually they are aware, maybe not so much then, although their medical texts do indicate awareness, just not much in the way of treatments . . . . but they have examined loads of mummies lately and discovered this . . . . |
