1349955 2013-07-26 21:31:00 *** this country is a democratic one. In simple terms that means every few years we all vote and the party that gets the most votes gets to run the place until we get sick of them and vote the other lot in. We run with what most of us want. Being nasty, whining constantly or the like does not change anything. It is always easy to find fault with anything but it is a lot harder to come up with something that is better. If anyone really believes they have all the answers they should get themselves voted in and do something about it. CliveM (6007)
1349956 2013-07-26 23:43:00 I don't feel strongly about this so if I give that impression below it's a false one. I don't care that much, added this line because reading it back sounded a bit harsh.

Perhaps if you'd formulated better questions or backed them up instead of just throwing wild claims around they might have responded with something other than the standard party line. I doubt it though.
What additional power do you claim the "spy?s" [sic] are getting, to do what and to whom ? The way I understand it they are just formalizing and tidying up the powers government agencies already have.
If anything it might serve to reduce what they can do.

I know some people value their privacy so much they don't like anyone to know anything about them, and any organization or government agency especially. There is a real lack of trust in government, perhaps justified to a degree but what is the alternative? Offer solutions rather than just complaining about what you don't like perhaps? Those same people still expect the government to magically protect them against criminals and terrorists without using anybodies personal information. There's a balance to be struck and it'll never suit everyone, but that's the price for living in a society. If you want out of it, go find an uninhabited island somewhere where you don't have to abide by other peoples rules, or start your own political movement and do something about it - see how much traction your views gain.

The system is flawed and full of problems, but it's what we have. The beauty of it is anyone has the ability to try and change things if they really want. I'm happy enough with status quo so I do nothing. If that's not true for you what are you doing about it ?

1349961 2013-07-27 05:06:00 Funny how the "common" man doesn't give a fig.

The ones making all the noise are those guilty of something. Just look at the majority of them - complete dingbats.
