1368965 2014-02-27 07:41:00 I have an Asus Eee PC 701 net book. Originally it had Linux in it, then Windows XP Home. I have tried Puppy Pecise Linux which works well, even supports the screen and sound buttons on the Keyboard. Problem is that the screen drivers are far too slow. I get the best results with a heavily pruned version of Windows 7. The problem here is that it keeps running out of space on its 4gb solid state drive. As it has 2gb of RAM a swap file is not required, but Windows will not allow me to have less than 200mb of swap file.

Windows will not allow me to use an external drive for swap files, only for extra RAM. I have most of the software on a 4gb SD Card, also the Downloads and Documents folders.

Is there a way to make Windows accept an external drive for a swap file?

And this (serverfault.com).

Why not just disable it? forum.thewindowsclub.com

1368968 2014-02-27 19:39:00 Running windows on a 4gb drive is quite a feat. Is the SSD able to be replaced with a larger drive? That would seem to be the best option if possible. dugimodo (138)

In the Eee 701, no, it's soldered onto the motherboard.

And if you think getting XP on that is a feat, I once had Vista on mine :D

1368970 2014-02-27 21:55:00 Seems kinda odd that it would have that small of an internal capacity. My asus transformer pad came with 32gb and its an android tablet. Slankydudl (16687)

Not really, the Eee 701 is quite old and came with a custom version of Xandros IIRC

This. The Eee 701 dates back to 2007, well before tablets. :p
