266275 2004-08-28 08:14:00 Heya.

I've just noticed a while ago that when I listen to music on my computer if I crank it up to the max it's a bit bad quality. You know the old blurry sorta fuzz thing that happens when you max it out.

Is that to do with the speakers or the sound card? just trying to find out so I can figure out which one to upgrade.

266276 2004-08-28 08:41:00 Whats the music? CD or MP3's you downloaded?

And what program r u using to listen to it??

It could be the speakers, depending on the brand / how much they can handle...

266277 2004-08-28 09:14:00 Exactly Spacemannz, It will depend on many things, like speakers.. Will they handle the sound levels..What are you trying to listen? Bazza (407)
266278 2004-08-28 09:28:00 I am listening to "Cool Blue" just now (it is great !). The level is 3 and I cranked it up to 10 (Mrs Misty not too happy). Apart from the sound level no difference to quality. I reckon your problem is with the speakers - but then I am sure someone much more knowledgeable than me will advise.
cheers
Misty :)

266279 2004-08-28 09:46:00 Well you need to advise what sound card and speakers to start with. then what cpu, how much ram, what other applications are running, what settings you have card and Windows on..... etc etc ad nauseum Greg S (201)
266280 2004-08-28 11:07:00 a crappy sound card will give decent sound with decent speakers.(within reason, but onboard audio has been more then excellent for the last 3 or 4 years.

Crappy speakers will sound crap no matter how good the sound card.

Make sure none of the audio cables are touching any other cables, this can degrade the quality of the output,.

If your listing to net feed then it will be heavly compressed, expect to hear defects.

266281 2004-08-29 06:56:00 Interference from the other inputs/ouputs perhaps?

266282 2004-08-29 07:38:00 Onboard sound - Gigabyte Ga K7va or something. Forgot exact model but it's relatively new anyway. Last year I'd say.

Xp 2600 512 ram bla bla plenty etc.

I plug headphones in and when I max sound it's sweet no buzz etc but it doesn't go like REAL loud on headphones. Thats what I notice with that. And on speakers it can go relatively loud but it buzzes towards high volume..
