266628 2004-08-29 08:25:00 I have just discovered a problem playing back CDs on my laptop.
The music (backing) is audible but the vocals are only audible when the balance is wound all the way to the left or right but is right in the background when it is in the middle.
Anyone?
Some details: Asus A2500H win XP Pro,SP2, Realtech AC97 Audio, windows media player.
This was happening before I loaded SP2

266629 2004-08-29 09:08:00 Probably plucking at straws here but do you have an equalisation or sound effect program in your control panel? If the middle frequencies are set too low it may cause the vocals to disappear or if you have inadvertently clicked a karaoke setting the same will happen. Sb0h (3744)

It nulls out all signals that are equal L+R, these are usually mainly voice.

Also thanks Godfather for your input, it helped as well.
