267174 2004-08-30 23:10:00 Jeeeeeush!, what on earth has happened? I had decided to run windows over the top to straighten out some minor niggles, usually works fine. Now I have lost my dial up options. From the control panel when I use the wizard to create a new connection (since my old one has been swallowed into cyber-space) the only option it gives me is broadband, which I cant have since there is none where I live. The dial up option is grey and cant be activated either from within my browser options or the control panel. I seriously don't want to reformat and re-install. What now? Timewarp (5962)
267175 2004-08-30 23:12:00 You could try going into add/remove programs and reinstall Communications Greg S (201)

267177 2004-08-30 23:26:00 I have neve know that procedure to work.

Try this
Open Regedit (Start --> Run --> regedit --> ok)

Navigate to HKey_Local_Machine --> System --> CurrentControlSet --> Services --> Rasman --> PPP --> EAP

Left click on EAP there should be 4 keys > 13,4,25,and 26

Delete the keys 25 and 26

Reboot the PC

Try to setup a new connection - the problem should now be fixed

Jim B speaks the truth - I go with the fix he mentions.

Once again I take my name in vain but W T F !?

Great that it's working, but I get the feeling Jim B may not be interested in your proposal.

267183 2004-08-31 00:41:00 lol for those who are interested .....for xp copy and paste the following into a notepad and save as somethingrather.reg :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\RasMan\PPP\EAP\25]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\RasMan\PPP\EAP\26]

then right clik the file to 'merge' it into the reg......then restart then all your optoions will be back.........this is a handy fix cause sometimes when you do a repair install in particular you will lose those options
