my experience is that it takes only 3 to 5 days to clear an English cheque and worth noting the x rate is done at the time you BANK the cheque, although the funds are not available until clearance |

Yep, the 5 day thing is stautory ... but that was the reasoning behind it. |

I'd never accept an overseas cheque. Electronic transfer so it's instant or no deal! |
