267342 2004-08-31 05:32:00 Well i dont use USB 1 or 2 for Video editing. I use firewire. So, wouldnt have a clue what USB 1 or 2 does or how good it is.

I was j/k when i said it would take all day. Since I havent used USB for video editing. I've just read that USB 2 isn't that good for DV.

267343 2004-08-31 06:21:00 Im not sure, but Im sure that two posts ago you said "I know, I use both"?!

Now you're claiming to have never tried USB?

Something smells a little fishy.....

Metla:
DV, How do you mean exactly? Ive USB Capturing from a Sony HandyCam, as well as TV Tuner. What exactly is the difference?

Chill.

267344 2004-08-31 06:36:00 I have only used Firewire before. I have not done it before with USB2, but I was simply saying that **theoretically** you can, because it is fast enough, which was the argument taking place. To the best of my knowledge, Sony has released camcorders which allow you to capture DV via USB2.0, but as I've said, I have not physically done it before.

Please lighten up metla, I didn't talk to you in a bad tone, so please don't do that to me.

267346 2004-08-31 11:12:00 Maybe the newer camera's allow you to transfer DV via USB2. Mine doesn't. You can transfer digital images (photo's) with USB but DV has to go through firewire.

Theoretically USB2.0 is faster than firewire, however in real world use firewire has lower overhead hence the reason it is preferred for high bandwidth devices such as DV and external harddrives.

Well that's my opinion although I'm happy to be proven wrong.

267347 2004-08-31 11:16:00 DV is the "native format" for video captured via firewire, its to ensure those that don't understand the implications of a lossy codec are still garenteed to get a file that is as good quality as the original media. metla (154)
