2004-09-05 01:21:00 | Well I have now tried turning system restore off and avg still detects nothing. Ive been in safe mode and avg don't work in that mode. Is there any other way i can get rid of this annoying message, thanks all | chrisabnett (5739) | |
2004-09-05 01:30:00 | chrisabnett Turning off system restore effectively removes the virus from your restore folder so avg should not detect it anymore. Don't forget to turn system restore back on.

2004-09-05 01:30:00 | Turn off restore Restart Computer Scan with AVG If it reports nothing, turn restore back on. For peace of mind, do an online scan here (housecall.antivirus.com)

2004-09-05 01:34:00 | Download Stinger (vil.nai.com), save it to your hard drive in either Program Files or My Documents then run it in Safe Mode. If you still have the worm/virus Stinger will get rid of it. | Susan B (19) | |
2004-09-05 01:35:00 | Yes, I have done all that you guys have4 said and nothing has changed. I am now busy with a online scan, will let you know the outcome. | chrisabnett (5739) | |
2004-09-05 02:31:00 | OK I am back just after doing the online scan with Panda and it detected absolutely nothing. i can't believe it. I am about to give up. Oh Susan, I searched stinger's data base and Padobot.Q does not exist in the list. What to do?? | chrisabnett (5739) | |
2004-09-05 02:50:00 | if the virus is in system volume information then simply turning off system restore and rebooting should have fixed it. if it still comes up it must be in a different location. if it is in the same loctaion delete the folder it is in. did you run the removal tool??

I am going by what was said previously: >>From www.Grisoft.com >>[quote] >>Worm/Padobot >>(alias Worm.Korgo) I used Stinger on a computer last week and it detected and removed files infected with Worm.Korgo. From the information at Grisoft I assumed that Padobot is also known as Korgo which Stinger dealt with. From that information I am sure that Stinger will get rid of Padobot if it is the same as Korgo, if you have it. If it doesn't then I would assume you don't have it, unless it is still in system restore. :-) |

2004-09-05 06:55:00 | Chrisabnett You seem to be missing the point. By turning off system restore you have removed the virus from your computer. Now, AVG and Panda by not finding anything are just confirming it is gone. Your computer is now free of this virus. Smile and be happy, you have got rid of it.
