268251 2004-09-02 08:21:00 Hi I am currantly running win 98se 126ram 40gig hard drive.It takes 4 minutes to load up and I would like to know why I have been to msconfig and checked load up programs(not many)Is there a program that will tell me what is" loading-running" that I can install.If any one has the answer I would be most gratful to hear it cheers terry nzace (6057)

i can't tell you WHY you have been to msconfig but its a good thing :-) msconfig will tell you (basicly) what is "loading-running". otherwise msinfo32 under software/running tasks will tell you whats running.

what programs have you got listed in startup (in msconfig) ??

268256 2004-09-03 08:13:00 I started to get annoyed with my computer and slow load times as well.

In my case its due to services loading, which isnt necessarily shown as a startup program being a service. It may be worth checking, cases will vary.

Try to look at visual clues to see if it will help determine delays. Virus scanners sometimes do a partial scan on starting.
