267855 2004-09-01 08:18:00 Hi guys, my router physically connects (it reports) at about 7168kbps. Of course, my plan caps me to 256kbps, however when i log my router on to jetstream games realm, my download speed is 60-150KB/s peaking occasioanlly up to 200.

I am confused. I thought JSG was full speed. But I only get 1.6Mbps at absolute peak.

I don't *think* there is anything wrong with my connection. I live in Brooklyn, Wellington (near the city) and as i said my router reports good speed.

Have JSG capped their service or is there a problem at my end?

BTW, I have tested on 2 ethernet nat routers and 1 usb modem, and at my friend's house (same area) with the same result.

Cheers,
George

267856 2004-09-01 08:22:00 I was getting around 300KB/s the other day when I was getting Fedora Core 2.

Could be its in high use at the moment with everybody getting Yoper ;-)

267857 2004-09-01 08:23:00 You might be hitting it at a busy time. I connected to the JSG realm the other day and only got about 200 KB/s - I normally get 600-700 KB/s. The fact you are getting 60-150 KB/s shows that you are correctly logged onto the realm although that is a pitiful speed.

Try the realm again during school hours, you might get better speeds then :p

267858 2004-09-01 08:31:00 Well I just connected now to the JSG realm and I was getting just over a steady 800 KB/s off both ftp and ftp2 servers - I let it run for a bit to let the download speed level out as it often starts fasts and then levels off. Jen C (20)
267859 2004-09-01 10:37:00 Got about 450KB average last niight when downlaoding Yoper, as per Jen, it started with a hiss and a rour and quickly leveled out. I've noticed the Pardise Games server does the opposite, starts off anywhere from 128 - 200KB then steadily climbs to about 300 - 450KB, weird.

Have you had your lines tested by Telecom George? Could be a fault in the area and with all this wet weather it's bound to be found.

267860 2004-09-01 12:51:00 JSG has been having some problems lately and Sidbo seems to be trying his best to get it sorted. I remember Sidbo from when he use to maintain the Xtra Games Servers. Everyone may be experiencing slowness till it's fully sorted. chameleon_coder (6050)
