268664 2004-10-25 00:52:00 P4 3.0ghz, Gigabyte GA-8IPE-1000 Pro 2 board, MX400, SB Live 5.1, 512DDR, Seagate Barracuda 20 and 40gig drives.

I've had no trouble installing the update at all. Mind you, I installed SP2 over a clean WinXP install, which I am sure helped things go smoothly. Comp seems faster allround, but after I installed Nero 6, Nero refused to run until I visited the ahead site and downloaded a patch. It goes perfectly now.

Man, those multitudinous, yellow info-bubbles wear out their welcome pretty quickly though... -_-

268665 2004-10-28 09:37:00 Thanks very much Terry. Needed to boot from my XP CD & repair HDD, then reinstall SP2. All per MS Knowledge Base. New problem though, my WinFast TV 2000 TV / capture card no longer works under SP2????? bba12 (1139)

Musing aloud...I wonder if it is anything to do with SP2 updating DirectX 9?
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers and software for the card and then re-installing?

Perhaps someone with experience of this card may have an idea.

268667 2004-11-01 18:42:00 Yeah.... I had an MSI Vox USB2.0 Tuner - Had to get updated drivers from the manufacturers website before it played nice with XPSP2. Chilling_Silence (9)
268668 2004-11-03 09:53:00 I´ve put it on 2 computers, a clean install on to a wiped drive & an update. We did them as soon as the pc mag arrived. We´ve had no problems with either & haven´t found anything that doesn´t work yet either. Disabled auto update & the firewall, installed AVG & Sygate. Once I got the right network cables they even network with win me. phil.b (4456)
268669 2004-11-07 21:32:00 Recently installed SP2, everything is running fine no problems at all. Nero mentions that my current version is incompatiable with SP2, but i ignored the problem and it runs fine.

The new security centre is a pain in the ass and should be easier to disable. All in all it seems like a good all round update to fix flaws in windows with a stupid annoying emphasis on security.

268670 2004-11-09 03:54:00 Just installed SP2 for a friend with a Dell PC,no problems yet!!Using Zonealarm.Interesting to see her reaction to the new screens etc.Well at least she knows how to back up to cdr now! Neil McC (178)
268671 2004-11-10 05:15:00 Installed on 14 PC's at home (D/w I sell them - I'm not some kind of PC hoarder).

Most went fine but all Prescott (P4 Prescott and Celeron D) killed themselves. Easy to fix though, just run through some simple instructions from MS :), and flash the BIOS.
