| 268633 | 2004-09-26 10:43:00 | I have a Compaq Presario 1.5 Gb with XP Home. I use the E-Trust Anti-Virus and Firewall and had no problems at all. Whole thing only took about 30 minutes and reboot great. very happy with it. Ian. | ianalice (3681) | ||

Also the Device Manager button has moved to the top of the Hardware tab in System Properties. Anyone found any other differences after going to SP2? |

AFAIK they did that with the release of build 2184, because it wasnt there in 2082.... |

| 268637 | 2004-09-27 21:18:00 | A friend tried downloading SP2 onto his compaq presario a few weeks ago using dial-up & after 4 1/2 hours it hung & turned the OS to custard :-( Ended up doing a format & reinstall & then loaded SP2 off the PCWorld disc & no probs so far :-) My neighbour used my PCW disc & installed SP2 with no probs on 2 computers till yesterday when he went out & bought a new Cannon all in one printer,He mucked about with it for about 2hrs & then called me for assistance. It turns out that a few cannon printers have compatibility issues with SP2 :-( I'm a bit reluctant to install SP2 on my pc at the mo but guess I'll have to bite the bullet soon. Steve |

| 268638 | 2004-09-28 03:06:00 | In addition to my slight niggles with Media Player and Norton AV update (I have to go to the website to get a proper update now), since installing SP2 I get a curious message during the "loading your personal settings" phase of boot-up: The panel is headed "settings[1].exe" and reads: "CRC error! File content has been modified. If you run a system debugger, clear all breakpoints before running this program!" (shrieks sic) Is this anything I should worry about? Or is it just SP2 being security-niggly? And either way, how do I get rid of it. XP Pro on an Athlon from the late unlamented PC Company; XP SP2 firewall turned off, running ZoneAlarm. Argus |

| 268639 | 2004-09-29 09:29:00 | I had no problems installing SP2 but unlike others my computer seems to be going slower. It is a Dell 4300 1.7ghz with 512mb Ram. One issue is that the notification panel no longer slides to hide the icons that are not currently being used. | Muzwald (6110) | ||
| 268640 | 2004-10-01 04:24:00 | Success!!! I tried for the 3rd time (see Buck above) to install SP2, this time after uninstalling Norton systemworks, NAV, NIS, Nero, InCD and an NVidia system utility just for luck. No luck, same stop message and BSOD (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). Reinstalled XP Pro, Sp1 and USB drivers. Uninstalled the Mouse drivers (it's a DSE optical that uses A4Tech SWOP-25 Drivers) and then SP2 went through without a hitch. Updated drivers are available here: www.a4tech.com but for the moment I am sticking to the Win Xp ones, while I reinstall Norton systemworks, NAV, NIS, Nero, and InCD. Computers are such fun. There must be hundreds of these mice out there. |

| 268641 | 2004-10-01 08:39:00 | Take care that the DSE optical mouse download is the correct one, mine is a WOP-35 that is different to the SWOP-35 in the download listed above. Both self and grandson have installed SP2 with DSE optical mice and no problems, MS suggested running the XP mouse driver during SP2 instal but by oversight did'nt. |

| 268642 | 2004-10-01 08:56:00 | I have just checked the DSE site and they have posted drivers to suit SP2. Wish I'd figured it out earlier. The STOP came at Mup.sys, which seems to figure in a number of problems. |
