Thanks
Daniel

268798 2004-09-03 07:41:00 Bump dwnz2003 (5250)
268799 2004-09-03 08:31:00 Gee, it's been two hours - the bump probably wasn't necessary.

You neglected to mention what kind of web server you are running, which is rather relevant.

268800 2004-09-03 09:41:00 O sorry. I am using IIS on win2k advanced server dwnz2003 (5250)
268801 2004-09-03 09:49:00 Webalizer is good and free, don't think it does bandwidth from memory - it's designed for *nix but has been ported to W32.

I only do stats on large production machines, so use Webalizer on *nix and am using Urchin (www.urchin.com) and WebTrends (which is a horrid piece of crap) - both packages are $1300USD + .

268802 2004-09-04 00:05:00 That is what i need, but i need something easier to get going. I am hopeless at getting things that need lots of configuring in notepad and the command line. I need something that i just run a exe file on my webserver, it asks me where i want to put the files and what the name of the site is and then it does the rest for me, or one that does mostly that, that only requires a tiny little bit on configuring.

Thanks
Daniel

268803 2004-09-04 02:19:00 Try Awstats - nice and lean. But you could use a third party service - www.statcounter.com is good and requires no installation, and it's completely invisible to your visitors. Just can't remember if it does bandwidth, but should be worth a look. Greg S (201)
268804 2004-09-05 08:40:00 I tried Awstats but it was way to hard to configure. I need a bandwidth counter because i am running a webhosting service. I need something like Awstats but easy to configure dwnz2003 (5250)
268805 2004-09-05 09:12:00 You could do what I do -

Log all resource requests from IIS (see properties field of the Website from the console snap-in for IIS), then get the text files, and filter out unique IPs...

If you're running a web-hosting service, configuring those stats packages should be a piece of cake.

Who fixes your servers in the event of failure or software issues? Who set them up for you?

Take some time, read the documentation, they are all very very straightforward.

Otherwise, pay the money and buy a package with a wizard that'll hold your hand the whole way through.
