268773 2004-09-03 04:28:00 some of you may know that i have spent some time building my own webserver, I have had questions from a number of people as to how it was done.

homepages.ihug.co.nz

268774 2004-09-03 11:22:00 From a physical engineering point of view no. I would like to test its speed with a large number of active users. Its speed was acceptable when I tested it, considering its base. I might have to come and pick your brain on some other issues though. I like simple text sites. drb1 (4492)

268776 2004-09-03 11:56:00 according to the site.. "Support up to AMD K6-2/400 (66MHz external frequency x 2 ratio)" it should be able to run it as a 400.

btw i might have a proper super socket7 board around here somewhere (has dead ps2 ports) that would work very well with your cpu and uses sdram so you could install 512 meg ;-)

otherwise very nice work. if at all poss try to enlarge the heatsinks in the PSU which will stopp it overheating with minimal airflow.

With out looking, all the other bits may be starting to interfere with the heat sink. You could make a convection heat exchanger and loop it through the heat sink easily

268778 2004-09-03 12:39:00 My solution:
XBox (http://www.xbox.xom)
GentooX (http://xboxlinux.sourceforge.net)

Time required = 3 hours

Total Cost:
Approx $300NZD

PC Spec's - Celeron Coppermine-based 733Mhz
64MB Ram
8 - 10GB Hard Drive

268779 2004-09-05 01:18:00 I wish I had the money to mod an XBox...

It sounds really fun...

Don't you need to solder a chip on there?

:S Sorry for hijacking :D

268780 2004-09-05 01:26:00 Cheapmods start from around $35, but you really wanna get yourself an X-Bit, or Xecutor chip.

There are chips now that are solder-less AFAIK!

http://www.x-mods.co.nz has the works!
