| 269382 | 2004-09-05 05:38:00 | Now that driverguide.com is toast ( and 90% of google hits link to whats left of it) whats your recommendation for a decent driver site that hosts all the wierd and wonderful drivers that driveguide.com used to ? Or am I the only person wo can't access it. It let me register but nothing else happens after that - dead links, timeouts, page not found yada yada. :-( |

| 269383 | 2004-09-05 05:52:00 | as far as i can see, there is no problem with their site. they have been making modifications, however: "Notice to existing users As part of our site-wide upgrades, we've installed a new user login and signup system. This new system will add a great many features allowing us to customize your experience of the site, including such things as keeping track of the devices you have, searches you've performed, etc. We were not able to import your original signup information, because we kept some of the data securely encrypted in a manner which is not compatible with the new system. We take efforts to protect your privacy, and must, therefore ask you to go through the sign up process again so that our system can create your new account. We apologize for the inconvenience, and trust that you will come to find the moment of annoyance worth it as our many new features come online. To minimize your trouble we will let you continue to use your old login/password for the next few weeks. After that you will be required to create an account to gain access. " Perhaps you tried logging in at a time when they were updating something? |

I've just been tearing my hair out trying to get a legacy win3.1 driver for an S3 video card. Havent looked over the whole site by any means but from what I have, I would agree it's a bit toasted. ( I got fed up with only 16 default colours on my "legacy" win3.1 machine :) ) |

Have you tried locating any driver at all ? Could somone try a search and download please? That way if successful I can beat up my o/s and not their website. |

| 269386 | 2004-09-05 06:39:00 | I registered and was able to logon after a very long-winded process of umpteen pages and questions and boxes to be filled in, trying all the while to give as little information as possible, and refusing any so-called freebies and other nonsense . This was just 2 days ago . Eventually everything was accepted and I had an email with a url to click on which confirmed my user name and password . Great I thought, now I can start searching for the video driver, but the list was pathetic . As I mentioned absolutely nowhere near what used to be there . So I would be interested in a free comprehensive driver site too :) |
