I have done a defrag..analyised it first like it says to do..I have Windows XP..It finished an it says it cannot defrag 15 fragments with a file size of 4.0 GB the file name is /WINDOWS/system32/ACTIVESPANAV.SIG ..when i analyise it again it says i should defrag agin :( Wots up with that..I still have 56% free space on my C drive..any ideas plase? | jase12 (4868) | ||
| 269359 | 2004-09-05 03:15:00 | Not familair with XP but on this comp running 98se I always defrag in Safe Mode. In the absence of any other suggestions give that a go. And it'll give you a *bump* as well. :D |

If it's a file of virus signatures for an AV programme, it might be deliberately fragmented to speed access to parts of it. A 4GB file could need that.:D Life is too short to insist on a totally fragment-free disk. |
