269311 2004-09-04 20:56:00 The following is a message I received from a friend who is running Windows ME . She uses Trend PcCillin and also has Adaware .

Trend has been telling her for a couple of days about this infected file . Nothing else picks it up .

I wondered if she could go back a few days and use the Restore function that ME has and she could restore back to before she started getting the message . Would this work? I'm not that familiar with ME myself . So any suggestions/help would be appreciated

What can I do with a virus that Trend keeps picking up?

Infected file

C:\_RESTORE\ARCHIVE\FS42 . CAB (W0204338 . CPY)

Virus name

TROJ_FUNWEB . A

Status

Unable to clean or quarantine

269312 2004-09-04 21:09:00 Hi Iris,
Using System Restore should work fine so long as a restore had been created previous to those warnings of infected files.

Has your friend tried an online scan from the Symantec website for example?

Others may have more ideas.

269319 2004-09-05 06:22:00 Thanks for all the help everyone. Including the link back to a posting by SusanB. Have sent that item off to my friend.

The problem now seems to be fixed and ME is working fine and no more viruses being found.

You've probably never run WinME. Its fine if you don't load it up with all sorts of superfulous cr*p
